Review of Paediatric Flag

NSW Ministry of Health, 2013

The NSW Ministry of Health engaged Health Policy Analysis to review the ‘Specialist Paediatric Activity Flag’. This flag is a data item used in the analysis of the NSW Admitted Patients Data Collection to identify admitted patient episodes that would typically be expected to be undertaken within a specialist paediatric hospital rather than in another hospital.

The review recommended a clinically validated set of criteria that correctly and more efficiently identified more episodes than under the previous algorithm.
