Economic evaluation and costing methodology: Mental Health and Aged Care Partnerships Initiative

NSW Ministry of Health, 2012

The NSW Ministry of Health engaged Health Policy Analysis to conduct an economic evaluation of the Mental Health Aged Care Partnership Initiative (MHACPI). MHACPI provides community residential services for people with severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) and/or functional mental illness.

The initiative was implemented under the NSW Service Plan for Specialist Mental Health Services for Older People (SMHSOP) 2005-2015.

The economic evaluation was designed to provide an economic analysis of the two existing MHACPI models, and to also inform policy and further service expansion and development for the long-term care for older people with severe BPSD and/or complex mental health issues in NSW.
