Review of performance reporting

NSW Ambulance Service, 2010

The Ambulance Service of NSW engaged Health Policy Analysis to review its data analysis and performance reporting processes with a view to strengthening the organisation’s capabilities in these areas.

The project involved outlining the current reporting and management structure, data sources and systems, and data analysis and reporting. In undertaking the review, Health Policy Analysis spoke with key Ambulance staff to gain their views on data analysis and performance reporting processes. A full outline of the handling of data from collection, reporting, storage, analysis, reporting and performance management was developed.

Through the consultations and in depth analysis of the outline, Health Policy Analysis was able to find the areas of performance reporting that were being done well and highlight where improvements could be made. Based on these findings, recommendations were made to the Ambulance Service to help improve its performance reporting systems.
