Deniza Mazevska and Jim Pearse, as part of a team from the Patient Classification Systems International (PCSI), ran a two-day seminar in Iceland to strengthen their capacity in casemix and Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs).

More than 50 people attended the seminar from government agencies and hospitals, including policy makers, hospital managers, clinicians, and technical staff (health economists, clinical coders and costing staff).

For the seminar, Deniza and Jim joined Kristiina Kahur (CEO of Nordic Casemix Center), Dana Burduja (President, PCSI and Senior Health Economist, European Investment Bank), and Michael Wilke (Professor for Hospital Management at the Medical School Hamburg and CEO of inspiring-health GmbH).

As part of its Health Policy to 2030, Iceland is aiming to strengthen its funding and purchasing of health services to encourage better quality, improve access to services through better identification and targeting of need, and control costs.
